Casual Market 2015
The Casual Market took place in Chicago on September 16th-19th and STORIS made it to the windy city to be an exhibitor at the event. We traveled to the Merchandise Mart to participate in the event, which is a market where retailers within the outdoor furnishings industry come to shop the new collections.
The day before Market, the International Casual Furnishings Association hosted Industry Roundtables, which were attended by over 100 participants. STORIS led the discussion at 2 tables for the topics of Cutting Costs and Increasing Your Bottom Line and Targeting the Young Consumer. These roundtables were informative sessions that lead to conversations about the potential and use of technology in the retail space. Be sure to check out our upcoming article in Casual Living magazine which will feature the topics discussed at the Roundtables.
STORIS’ feature event at Casual Market was a breakfast that was hosted by Casual Living and sponsored by STORIS. It was a collaborative dialogue about technology in the casual industry and was a great outlet for retailers to discuss current practices in their own businesses. The room was filled with energized conversation and an opportunity for building relationships with fellow members of the industry. All of the attendees were extremely engaged in the discussion, openly sharing positive experiences with technology and processes they would like to do better in the future.
On Friday evening, STORIS representatives also attended the ICFA Gala at the Field Museum, which was a gorgeous backdrop to the event. Attendees were treated to a four course meal and beverages, along with entertainment provided by the ICFA. The Gala honored top members of the Casual Industry in categories like Design Excellence, Manufacturer of the Year, Lifetime Achievement, Retail Stores of the Years, and more. We would like to recognize our client, Outdoor Elegance for their Apollo Award Nomination. Guests were also treated to a runway style show which presented new textiles as fashion pieces, including those from our Client Brown Jordan.
Overall, it was a successful show in a great location. Our STORIS attendees were able to visit the best parts of town and mingle with many members of the casual industry. We look forward to continuing to serve the casual industry in the future. As seen at this Market, there is a clear opportunity for growth in the casual industry and STORIS can help to provide the best software solutions to every casual retail business.
