STORIS has been offering Leading Retail Solutions and World-Class Services to furniture retailers of all sizes since 1989. They continually strive to stay ahead of their competition by providing the most comprehensive family of adaptive business applications, providing best of breed functionality, and it shows through the success of their clients.
Trey Adcock states that when he was researching software programs for his Athens, Ga., store, two of the factors that concerned him were the stability of the company and its ability to stand behind the software. He explains that he basically wanted to know that if he invested in the software, after operating with only a manual and a QuickBooks system, that he would not be left standing on his own.
Adcock, who runs his 40-year-old store with his father Larry, says that STORIS alleviated many concerns.
"They have a great reputation for supporting retailers because they are geared towards the furniture industry," says Adcock. "And I liked the fact that they came to my store, prior to me purchasing the software, and did a demonstration. This enabled us to ask a lot of questions - a lot of 'what if' questions - and the software addressed those. And then I wanted to know how quickly and accurately the company would be there to service our needs. They showed us how."
In fact, to further assist retailers with their software, STORIS Management Systems hosted their 2008 User's Conference, called "Innovation, Collaboration, Success," from August 21-23, 2009 in Jersey City, N.J. Even though there were dinner events and excursions during STORIS' three-day conference, the focus was on education and networking.
Greg Main, Information Technology and Inventory Manager at the 29-year-old Bacon's Furniture in Port Charlotte and Sarasota, Fla., says that when his store converted from STORIS' old version to Vision R8 two years ago, employees groaned at the prospect of change.
"Nobody likes change," he says. "But STORIS absolutely helped us through that. I can't say enough about their education and training, they supported us every step of the way. STORIS is very hands on - all the way up to the president of the company."
Main, who worked in the 911 field before joining Bacon's, understands technology and is impressed with how user-friendly STORIS is for employees.
Likewise, Adcock sings its praises. "I like how it really does track every inventory item - every item I receive through a purchase order. The system assigns it a unique serial number, and then any time I want to go back and look at the history of that item, I can."
Adcock is pleased to point out that in the six years since his store partnered with STORIS, Adcock Furniture is more profitable. He concludes that the system helps him forecast ordering so that his store is never over-or under-stocked. "It reduces inventory, and improves turns."
